SIBU: Sibu Jaya with a population of over 30,000 has grown to be an award-winning township through the joint effort of the government and the private sector.
HDCam Sdn Bhd, the land owner of Sibu Jaya, expects the township to continue with its rapid growth through such joint effort.
Its chairman Wan Mohd Yusop Wan Moss told a board meeting on Monday that the township would step up several notches to benefit the people.
Oficials from Housing Development Corporation and Amcorp Properties Berhad were also present at the meeting.
On the overall development, Wan Mohd said there were already around 6,000 houses in Sibu Jaya, with an additional 5,000 more homes to be built.
“Already government departments and offices such as health clinic, public library, police station, schools, market and private-driven services and facilities such as banks, postal office, petrol stations, supermarkets, food courts and many more have taken root in Sibu Jaya.”
Wan Mohd Yusop expects the township to take the next leap in development as more public facilities such as a fire station, the new Sibu Rural District Council complex, a new mosque and privately driven enterprises are already in the works.
“The future is bright and exciting for Sibu Jaya. The people need to know that Sibu Jaya is not just another residential development. It’s something that is bigger and grander.
“It’s a township which has everything. It’s also a township that is spurring the expansion of Sibu,” he added.
