SIBU: \u00a0A 10-day Fiesta Sibu Jaya to celebrate the pioneering spirit of the 30,000 people of the booming township starts this evening.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Sibu Jaya developer Distrepark Sdn Bhd, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce will officiate at the function at 8pm.<\/p>\n

The event will feature a plethora of business activities, fun and entertainment.<\/p>\n

Distrepark Sdn Bhd senior manager Eddy Puah said the event is timed to coincide with the school holiday and public holidays on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut above all, this event is meant as a celebration of the pioneering spirit of the people of Sibu Jaya who built a new life in this township,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

With over 6,000 homes built, Sibu Jaya has become a vibrant township and a focal point for suburban folks from around central Sarawak.<\/p>\n

The many shops that operate throughout the week indicates that weekends at Sibu Jaya does not end at 1pm, but stretches late into the afternoon as folks from surrounding townships and towns will throng Sibu Jaya for their weekend shopping.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur intention in hosting this event, with the support of our partners and also Sibu Rural District Council, is our way of bringing wholesome and fun activities, apart from business, to the people,\u201d Puah added.<\/p>\n

Residents in Sibu town have also been urged to take the opportunity to visit Sibu Jaya if they have not been to this township, which is a mere three-minute drive from Sibu Airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, with the implementation of the Masterplan for Sibu Jaya, the township has taken a quantum leap into the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sibu Jaya is increasingly visible as a modern township with beautifully landscaped roads and public spaces, and as more government agencies take root, it is poised for its next quantum leap, Puah said.<\/p>\n

Tribute to SibuJaya residents<\/h1>\n

SIBU: <\/strong>The people of SibuJaya should rightfully be proud to be the pioneers of this vibrant township, said local community leader Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout you, there will not be a SibuJaya.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of you, SibuJaya is growing and thriving,\u201d he said at the launch of Fiesta SibuJaya here.<\/p>\n

Wan Hamid said SibuJaya\u2019s development was the vision of Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg when he was the Housing Minister to see the township becoming an award-winning masterplan.<\/p>\n

The township had grown by leaps and bounds to become one of the most sought-after residential area, said Wan Hamid.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that SibuJaya will continue to grow rapidly and achieve bigger success in the future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Town councillor Kong Yii Tee said SibuJaya had truly come along way.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past, many residents hesitated to tell people that they lived in SibuJaya because it was not a prestigious residential area,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now, houses and shops here are highly sought-after.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese happened through efforts of the Housing Ministry, the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), developer and SibuJaya folk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are still many exciting developments to come,\u201d said Kong, who is assigned by SRDC to oversee SibuJaya.<\/p>\n

Kong praised Sibujaya developer Distrepark Sdn Bhd for bringing such a large-scale event to the township.<\/p>\n

Fiesta celebrates SibuJaya residents<\/h1>\n

SIBUJAYA: Residents of this booming township is holding a 10-day Fiesta SibuJaya.<\/p>\n

The event, launched by community leader Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce yesterday, will feature plenty of business activities, fun and entertainment.<\/p>\n

The event is organised by SibuJaya developer Distrepark Sdn Bhd.<\/p>\n

Distrepark senior manager Eddy Puah said the event was timed to take advantage of the school holidays.<\/p>\n

SIBU: <\/strong>The booming SibuJaya township is a great place to invest, says Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Dr Gregory Hii.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll those who believed in this township about 20 years ago, are now reaping the fruits,\u201d he said during his speech on the sixth night of Fiesta SibuJaya.<\/p>\n

Dr Hii noted the value of property here had grown in line with the township\u2019s growth to become one of the most sought-after residential areas in Sibu.<\/p>\n

Praising the business community in the township for their tenacity and acumen, he said it was time for them to consider coming together as a group.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am more than willing to share my experiences and assist the SibuJaya business community form a group that will put them on a better footing to work with the authorities,\u201d said Dr Hii, adding there is strength in numbers.<\/p>\n

He added the business community must evolve with changing times.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can no longer expect to do things the way you used to,\u201d he said, adding the advent of technology, especially in the field of information technology, has changed the way businesses operate.<\/p>\n

Dr Hii said business operators must work with the authorities in order to ensure the SibuJaya township continues to grow.<\/p>\n

The Fiesta SibuJaya, which has seen an average nightly turn out of several thousand, is scheduled to end tomorrow with Sibu Rural District Council deputy chairman Robert Lau speaking at the closing ceremony.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
