Close to 2,000 spectators were simply overwhelmed by the manificient display of driving skills by 150 participants from Kuching, Serian, Sri Aman, Saratok, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

The event on the very rough terrain of Sibu Jaya was supported by Sibu Rural District Council, Sibu 4WD Team, Saberkas Pelawan Branch and Sacred Heart 86ixers and hosted by Distrepark Sdn Bhd (developer of Sibu Jaya).

Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman James Laju was delighted with the strong participation fromfour-wheel drive enthusiasts from throughout the state.

“Sibu Jaya is the perfect grounds for you to host this event and I must thank Amcorp-Distrepark the developer of Sibu Jaya for stepping forward in funding this event,” he said.

SRDC, he added, was also given its fullest support to the event and would continue to support any activities that were meant for the benefit of the community.

James also revealed that the council was organising Pesta Sibu Jaya and Pesta Selangau on an annual basis alternating between the two townships.

He attributed the success of the event to the many different groups working together as a team.

“By the same token, SRDC as the local government for the rural areas of Sibu Division would like to stress that we want to work with everybody.”

The council wanted to build better and stronger bridges between the government and the people, he said.

“Therefore I call on the people of Sibu Jaya to come to us, the developer of Sibu Jaya to talk to us, the residents within SRDC jurisdiction to meet with us, whenever they have any problems that are within the roles and responsibilities of SRDC,” he concluded.
